Week : 25 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Infrared Motion Detector For Home Security (Video)

Objective : To show how the system function

Content / Procedure :


  • First step show how to ON and OFF the security system.Infrared Motion detector also activate when the security ON.
  • Second step show that the buzzer will sound when the door open without password.At the same time pepper gas spray also activate.
  • Third step show that when enter wrong password three times, the buzzer will sound and at the same time pepper gas spray will activate.
For more detail,I have explain how the system work in my post on week 22.

Week : 22 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Output of the system (circuit output)

Objective : To explain how the system works

Contents / procedure :

In this system there is a keypad to enter the password (input stage) and LCD to display the output (output stage).To activate the security system,firstly press button 'A' at keypad to set the password.Then press button 'B' to re-enter the password that have been set.When the security is activate, check the motion detector.Buzzer will on to indicate that the motion detector is function.Buzzer will off when it doesn't detect motion within the range.This motion detector and buzzer can replace the bell because if there is people outside the house the buzzer will sound.This system not only can be used when we are not at home, but also when we are at home. If there is stranger who tried to get into the house without using the password , the siren will sound when the magnetic lock is open.At the same time pepper gas spray will work.Siren will also sound if three times enter the wrong password.To reset the system when the alarm is activate, press button 'B' at keypad and enter the password that have been set for reset the system.This password is not the same password used to open the magnetic lock.So it is important to remember this password.

2. After that, press button 'A' at keypad, and LCD will display set password 1.After set the password, press button 'B' and again re-enter the password to activate the system ( LCD will display security ON).




3.When the security is activate, siren will on when there is motion detect by motion detector.Siren will only sound when there is motion within the range that the motion detector can detect.

Week : 19 (fyp sem 2)

Title : PCB Layout

Objective : PCB layout design

Content / procedure : 

PCB is a printed circuit board.Have you ever looked inside your computer, a radio or a telephone? The printed circuit boards inside it are the flat, thin, square, usually green fiberglass slabs that have electrical components attached.   Harder to see are copper traces running underneath the green covering.   You would have to try different angles of light to see them.   These are wires that are "printed" on the fiberglass slab.   They connect the electrical components, thus forming circuits.   Thus the name "printed circuit board."From my previous post, I have mention about removing the timer circuit from automatic spray air freshner.As you can see figure 1(a) below,the timer circuit is one of the example to show how PCB layout look alike. And for figure 1(b),figure 1(c) and figure 1(d) is my security system pcb layout design.

Week : 18 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Power source / Power supply

Objective : Using rechargeable battery as power source for the security system

Content / procedure :

Apart from using the rechargeable battery, we can also use ac-dc adaptor.Battery can be used as a replacement  if there is power failure. The battery must be charge before using it.

Result / analysis :

Week : 17 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Pepper Gas Spray using automatic spray air freshner

Objective : Using the mechanical part of the automatic spray air freshner only

Content / procedure :

I have remove the timer circuit for automatic water spray freshner in order to use only mechanical part of the automatic spray.After that I connect the positive part and the negative part of the automatic air freshner to the relay to test if it works or not.Alhamdulillah, it works.When the magnetic lock is open withot using the password the spray will function automatically.

Week : 16 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Timer circuit in automatic spray air freshner

Objective : Remove the timer circuit from automatic spray air freshner

Content / procedure :

 Purpose of removing the timer circuit from the automatic  spray air freshner is so that  I can use the mechanical part of the spray only.After i remove the timer circuit, I would connect the negative and positive source from the spray with the common and normally open part from the relay.

Conclusion : The timer circuit have been remove and after this i will try to connect the positive terminal and negative terminal of automatic spray air freshner with the relay.

Week : 15 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Relay

Objective : To connect a relay with automatic spray air freshener

Content / procedure :

What is relay ?



 - A relay is an electro mechanical switch used for driving heavy current loads in electronic circuits. Relay interface the electronic circuits with high voltage AC and there is complete galvanic separation between the two. When current passes through the relay coil, magnetic field develops which attracts a lever and changes the switch contacts. The contacts can be used to connect AC or DC loads which may then turn On / Off the load depending on the contact connections.

- A relay allows one circuit to switch on a second circuit which is completely separate from the first one. For example, a battery operated circuit can operate AC loads through a relay. There is no electrical connection inside the relay between the two circuits so that total galvanic isolation is possible.

Relay contacts 

- Typically a relay has three contacts. A moving contact called Common(Comm) and two fixed contacts. These are Normally Closed (NC) andNormally Open (NO). AC / DC is connected to the Comm. Contact. NO contact is used to connect the circuit / Gadget when the relay triggers. In this case, the circuit/Gadget remains off when the relay is Off. NC contact is used to break the supply when the relay energize. In this case the circuit / gadget remain operating until the relay energize. Contact rating is also important to drive the load. Typical relay contacts are rated for 4 Amps current. If the load is a high current one like Motor, Heaters, Inverters etc, relays having high rated contacts ( 16 Amps or higher) is necessary. These types of relays are called as Industrial type relays. If the contact rating is lesser than the load current, contacts may heat up and fire may break due to sparking.

 PCB Relay

These are small sized relays that can be directly soldered on the PCB to make the circuit board compact. Like other type s of relays, PCB relays are available with the rating of 5 V, 6 V, 12 V, 24 V etc. Coil ratings may be 100 to 400 Ohms. Pin connection of PCB relay is shown below.

Week : 14 (fyp sem 2)

Title : Automatic spray air freshener  as pepper spray

Objective : Using the automatic spray air freshener  to replace pepper spray

Content / Procedure : The automatic spray air freshener that i will use is shown below.





Result / Analysis :

-          I will use only the mechanical part of automatic spray and remove the timer circuit from the equipment.Then the automatic spray will be connected with relay from the project circuit. Purpose of doing this because it is necessary to ensure that the spray funtion at specified time by using microcontroller.

Conclusion : I did not remove the timer circuit of this spray yet.I will update later about this equipment.
